About Us

Army Gliding Club (Anglia) is an Army Gliding Association (AGA) club which exists to introduce service personnel to the sport of gliding, although places exist for a limited number of civilian members too.

We are based at Wattisham Airfield in Suffolk, which is where most of our activities are based. Club flying takes place most weekends and bank holidays all-year-round, weather dependent.

We operate in a friendly, relaxed manner and warmly welcome new and prospective members.

Facilities

The club has a large and comfortable clubhouse with a fully fitted kitchen, meeting/briefing rooms and social amenities and separate toilet facilities. We operate a fleet of three two-seat dual-control instructional aircraft and three single-seat solo aircraft, launched by winch and aerotow. We also have a Rotax Falke touring motor glider (TMG) for glider aerotow and private hire (by AGC(A) member qualified pilots). A number of members also have their own gliders (modern and vintage) based at Wattisham.

The club also has a wide range of vehicles, launch point cabins, classrooms and other facilities to keep the fleet flying and training delivered safely and efficiently.

The Army Air Corp (AAC) 3 and 4 Regiment have paid for block membership for all their personnel. Therefore, if you are currently posted to either AAC Regiment then your membership might be free for the first month!

Membership

Any member of the Armed Forces is eligible to join the club. As we exist primarily to introduce service personnel to the sport of gliding, the number of associate civilian memberships is limited but please contact us for details on availability and pricing. Military veterans are also welcome.
