The Suffolk Show is officially underway, and the Army Gliding Club (Anglia) stand is already seeing some fantastic action! We’re having a brilliant time out in the sunshine, sharing the thrill of soaring with the public alongside the wider Army displays.

Our static display, featuring the Discus (A6) glider, looks incredible out on the grass and is drawing plenty of curious onlookers. Our team has been busy chatting with visitors, answering questions about the sport, and explaining what it takes to get up in the air.

A massive draw today has been our triple-screen gliding simulator setup under the canopy. We’ve had aspiring pilots of all ages jumping into the cockpit to test their skills. From young enthusiasts getting their very first taste of the controls to visiting military personnel trying their hand at unpowered flight, the simulator is proving to be a huge hit!

The atmosphere is fantastic, and it’s great to see so much interest in the sport. If you’re visiting the show, be sure to come over, say hello to the team, and maybe even take the simulator for a spin yourself!

Day 2 at the Suffolk Show: Taking Flight with BBC Radio Suffolk

We had a fantastic start to Day 2 at the Suffolk Show! The gates opened to eager crowds right here near Ipswich, and the Anglia Army Gliding Club stand quickly became a hotspot for aviation enthusiasts of all ages.

We were thrilled to welcome Luke from BBC Radio Suffolk early in the morning for a live broadcast. He hopped into the cockpit with Simon for a firsthand look at our setup and to talk about the incredible technology we’ve brought to the show this year.

The Condor 3 Simulator Experience

The undeniable star of our exhibit is the Condor 3 gliding simulator. We are proud to share that this marks the very first time this specific, state-of-the-art simulator has been used publicly by the British Gliding Association.

It has been incredibly popular over the last two days, with steady queues of visitors eager to take the controls. The simulator offers a highly realistic training and flight experience.

Take to the Real Skies

While the simulator is a fantastic way to get a feel for the controls, there is nothing quite like the real thing back at our home base, EGUW (Wattisham Airfield).
